The Immortals

Fire Immortal is (1) the source of active expression as "will to be," "idea," or "flash of insight" in the inhalation phase of the breath cycle, and (4) the effect of the full realization nonduality in the exhalation phase of the breath cycle;

Air Immortal is (2) the agent of active expression as energy in the inhalation phase of the breath cycle, and (3) the process of the realization of equality in the exhalation phase of the breath cycle;

Water Immortal
is (3) the process of expressive activity as blueprint in the inhalation phase of the breath cycle, and (2) the agent of emotional opening to nondifference in the exhalation phase of the breath cycle;

Earth Immortal is (4) the effect of "idea" as expressive activity in the inhalation phase of the breath cycle, and (1) the source of sensitivity to the mystery of the whole in the exhalation phase of the breath cycle.

In this view of the Immortals, the source is nondual and the effect is nondual. Although at once cause and effect, source is not "before" and effect is not "after," as they are often construed from a temporal or linear standpoint of action, but the radically discontinuous source/effect moment of action.
